A Pilgrim Diary

I went on a Pilgrim to the Holy Land from 26th May 1999 to 7th June 1999.
I went knowing that this trip was going to be a bit more interesting than most. We would see some of the religious sites (the tourist bits), but we would also get to meet some of the local people, Jew and Arab.
This last bit was the part that most interested myself.
I went knowing next to nothing about the political situation and absolutely nothing about the social situation. Like most people in this country I have been brought up with western ideas, and western social attitudes. Trying not to go with any preconceived ideas is difficult, especially the portrayal of Arabs as "dirty Arabs" or "Arab terrorists" as has happened in our media on occasion.

One of the things that came from the majority of us, if not all, was what can we do to make people aware of the situation out there; to get rid of these preconceived ideas that I am sure a lot of us have.
Many ideas where banded about amongst us, but it wasn't until I got back home that I suddenly thought of what to do - I could publish my diary (without the more personal bits which only a wife should read !)

And so this is it, my diary of the places that we visited and some of the people we met and some of the situations going on about us.
